Description
of community agency/organization:
Vita Centre works in the Region of Peel to provide support for young parents and
pregnant teens. We have the only Maternity home in Peel Region. Vita Centre supports young parents by offering workshops, mentoring and life skills and a temporary residential home. By helping these young parents we are supporting our greatest resource, our children, to ensure they get the best start in life.
Position Title:
Fundraising and Public Education Coordinators
What you will do:
You will select a team to help you plan and run a fundraising event where the
proceeds will be donated to Vita Centre. You and your team with obtain full credit for your volunteer hours and recognition for your dedication to your own community. Our staff is available to guide you through the process and provide ideas for fundraising.
Skills required:
Organization, determination, leadership
Skills you will learn:
Teamwork, leadership, marketing and promotion, fundraising strategies, some
economics.
Length of time required:
Feb 2006 to June 2006 - to be determined by the scope of the project you choose
to take on
