Do you have a great imagination and a passion for literature? Would you like to see your writing published by your local library and win a great prize? If so, then this is the opportunity that you've been waiting for! Brampton Library's Seventh Annual Writing Contest is open to students from grades one to twelve and is designed to allow you to bring out your creative side in a short story.
If you’re a high school student like myself who enjoys writing as a form of expression or has a bunch of ideas but can never find the motivation to put it all down on paper, this contest sounds perfect for you. This is a great experience for teenagers, and just think of how great it would look on your post-secondary applications if you won!
The contest begins Monday, January 31, 2005 and all submissions must be in by Thursday, March 31st, 2005. The short stories are to be a maximum of 2000 words and written in English. They will be judged by grade level. The criteria are as follows: originality, style, grammar and spelling. Schoolwork is allowed to be submitted, but bear in mind, submissions will not be returned. In May 2005, an awards reception will be held at Cyril Clark Branch Lecture Hall. Winners' stories will be published in a book that will be placed in all of the Brampton Library branches.
